Innoverge Overview

Innoverge is a global youth-run organization focused on combining science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with empathy, storytelling, leadership, and ethics through STEMxHumanities educational initiatives. Founded in 2017, Innoverge has grown to a worldwide impact, focusing on developing longer-range programming within underserved and underrepresented youth communities.

2024 Impact at a Glance:

  • Over 2,000 students impacted through educational and chapter initiatives
  • 115+ STEMx workshops and programs conducted
  • Expanded to 18 new regions worldwide
  • Distributed 3 chapter grants from the United States to Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya

This year, Innoverge hosted workshops across regions worldwide, ranging from the psychology of movies to biotechnology. Workshop locations include but are not limited to: Monrovia, Liberia; San Ramon, California; Butuan, Philippines; Pueblo Nuevo, Nicaragua;  Chicago, Illinois; Charlotte, North Carolina; Sugarland, Texas; Uganda, Kenya and more! 

Our youth Regional Directors are supported by a vast range of resources: fully developed lesson plans and curriculum guides, micro-grant funding, onboarding support, logistical resources, and bi-annual events. See some of our spotlights below:

Nairobi, Kenya – Lyhane Nidhamu held a science and engineering fair that progressed to a national competition. He worked tirelessly to put on holiday boot camps for kids on topics including coding and electronics. Lyhane’s hard work with Innoverge reached over 300 students across Kenya. 

Westport, Connecticut – Jonathan Dobin-Smith held four workshops for teens with disabilities. He also hosted numerous lessons for both unhoused teens and those struggling with domestic violence or an incarcerated parent. Through his efforts, Jonathan reached over 50 youth.

Innoverge’s Programs team worked to increase accessibility and equity in STEM and leadership related opportunities.

Each month, Innoverge releases a newsletter highlighting free and accessible opportunities, scholarship, and educational programs for students. The newsletters have accumulated 1,240+ opens and 1,400+ total publication visits, totalling a 2,600+ impression reach. Read our newsletters here.

In addition, the Programs team curates and invites various leaders at the intersection of STEM and social impact fields. In total, four fireside chats were conducted, featured below and on our YouTube channel.

To further expand our outreach, the Programs team launched an Instagram content calendar to amplify STEMx content to our community. This initiative includes Mention Mondays, where we spotlight emerging and established STEM leaders; Workshop Wednesdays, dedicated to promoting upcoming workshops and events; and frequent shoutouts celebrating influential STEM figures, community achievements, and ongoing opportunities.

Education Initiatives:

This year, Innoverge’s Education Team successfully hosted a series of engaging and educational workshops, reaching students across different age groups. These workshops aimed to introduce young learners to interdisciplinary topics in science, technology, and psychology through interactive and hands-on activities.

2024 Workshops

  • Video Games and Computer Science (Elementary School) – 30 students
    • Students explored the fundamentals of computer science by designing and coding their own video games using Scratch.
  • Psychology in Movies (Middle School) – 15 students
    • Students were introduced to the six major perspectives of psychology and applied their knowledge by analyzing movie clips to determine which perspective was being represented.
  • Artificial Intelligence (Middle School) – 15 students
    • Students gained an understanding of artificial intelligence, learning how AI algorithms work before developing their own simple AI models.
  • Solve a Murder: Forensics (Middle School) – 15 students
    • Through an immersive, hands-on experience, students learned the basics of forensic pathology and applied their skills to solve a simulated case.

Expanding Our Reach

This year, Innoverge also partnered with Meaningful Teens, an online community that connects teenagers with schools worldwide to create volunteer teaching opportunities. Through this collaboration, we were able to extend our impact. The AI and Forensics workshops were hosted in partnership with Meaningful Teens, broadening accessibility and engagement for students interested in these subjects.
